Groundworks in Surrey

Foundations, bases and drainage built to last

Solid Ground to Build On

Siviter Projects carries out groundworks across Chobham and Surrey, from around £1,000 upward, including excavation, foundations, concrete bases, sub bases and drainage. We are fully insured, run our own mini digger, and lay the properly compacted, well drained groundwork that every patio, driveway, garden room or extension needs.

Groundworks are the part of a project nobody sees and everything depends on. We excavate, level, compact and drain the ground so whatever goes on top, a patio, a garden room, a driveway or an extension, sits on a solid, stable base that will not move.

We pour reinforced concrete bases with steel mesh and damp proof membrane, lay and compact Type 1 sub bases, form hardstanding for sheds, garden rooms and yards, and cut in drainage and soil pipes where they are needed.

We run our own mini digger and plant, which keeps projects moving and costs sensible, and we are fully insured for the work we carry out. From a small shed base to a full site preparation, the same care goes into getting the levels and drainage right.

Groundworks start from around £1,000 and scale with the size and complexity of the job. We survey the site, explain what is involved, and give you a clear price before we break ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ground Works Questions

What areas do you cover?

We are based in Chobham and cover Surrey and the Berkshire borders, including Camberley, Windlesham, Bagshot, Woking, Bracknell, Windsor and Maidenhead. If you are just outside that, call us on 07588 688687 and we will let you know.

How long have you been trading?

Siviter Projects has been established since 2010. Owner Dexter Siviter spent years working in the trade before setting up on his own, and he runs every project personally.

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured for the landscaping and groundworks we carry out, so you are covered from the moment we start on site.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. We come out, look at the job, talk through what you want, and give you a clear written quote with no obligation. Call 07588 688687 or use the quote form to get started.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. We stand behind our workmanship and build every job properly from the ground up, so it lasts. If anything is not right, we put it right.

How do you price a job?

We price on the size of the job, the materials you choose and the groundworks involved. We work to your vision within your budget and give you a clear fixed price before we begin, with no hidden extras.

What base will you be laying on?

We lay on a Type 1 MOT sub base compacted to 150mm, then bed every slab on a full sand and cement mix. That is what keeps a patio level and free draining for years.

What paving materials do you install?

We install porcelain, natural sandstone, granite and concrete paving. We help you choose a finish that suits your home, your budget and how you want to use the garden.

How much does a new patio cost?

Most patios fall between £3,000 and £50,000 depending on size, materials, access and any groundworks. We give you a clear fixed quote after seeing the space.

Do you handle drainage and steps?

Yes. Falls, drainage, steps, edging and raised sleeper beds are all planned in from the start so the finished patio drains properly and works with your garden.

How long does a patio take?

It depends on the size and the groundworks, but most domestic patios take from a few days to a couple of weeks. We give you a timeline as part of your quote.

What surfaces do you install?

We install resin bound, block paving and shingle driveways. We talk you through which surface suits your home, budget and how much use the drive gets.

How much does a driveway cost?

Driveways typically range from £5,000 to £50,000 depending on area, surface and the groundworks needed. You get a clear quote before any work starts.

Will my driveway drain properly?

Yes. We plan surface water drainage from the start, using permeable resin, channel drains or a soakaway as needed, so you meet the rules and water runs away from your home.

How long will a new driveway last?

Built on a properly compacted, edged sub base, a driveway will last many years. The base and edging matter as much as the surface, and we do not cut corners on either.

Do you remove the old driveway?

Yes. We dig out and take away the old surface and any spoil as part of the job, and leave the site clean.

How high can I have my fencing?

The tallest you can have domestic boundary fencing without planning permission is generally 2m. We will advise on the right height and style for your boundary.

What types of fencing do you fit?

We fit close-board and feather-edge fencing, panel fencing, post and rail, and paddock fencing, with concrete or timber posts, plus gates and lattice tops where you want them.

How much does fencing cost?

Most fencing projects fall between £2,000 and £15,000 depending on length, height and materials. We give you a clear quote after measuring the run.

Do you use concrete or timber posts?

Both. We recommend the right posts for the job, and set every post firmly so the fence stays straight and secure for years.

Do you remove old fencing?

Yes. We take down and take away your old fencing and posts as part of the job, and leave the boundary tidy.

Will I require planning permission?

It depends on factors like the scope of the work and your area's permitted development rights. Many garage conversions do not need planning permission, but the work must meet Building Regulations. We will guide you through what yours needs.

What does a garage conversion involve?

We handle the whole job: bricking up the opening, fitting new windows or doors, damp proofing, insulating, running electrics, laying flooring and plastering out to a finished room.

How much does a garage conversion cost?

Most conversions start from around £15,000 depending on the size of the garage and how you want the room finished. We survey yours and give you a clear price.

How long does a garage conversion take?

A typical single garage conversion takes a few weeks depending on specification. We give you a clear timeline as part of your quote.

Can you match the new brickwork to my house?

Yes. We brick up the opening in matching brick and fit windows or doors so the converted garage blends in with the rest of your home.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we are fully insured for all the groundworks we carry out, so you are covered throughout the project.

What groundworks do you carry out?

Excavation and site clearance, foundations and reinforced concrete bases, sub bases and hardstanding, levelling, and drainage or soil pipe installation.

How much do groundworks cost?

Groundworks start from around £1,000 and scale with the size and complexity of the job. We give you a clear price after surveying the site.

Do you have your own digger?

Yes. We run our own mini digger and plant, which keeps projects moving and keeps costs sensible.

Can you prepare a base for a shed or garden room?

Yes. We form properly compacted, level and drained bases and hardstanding for sheds, garden rooms, yards and outbuildings.
