Resin Driveway Installation

The Brief

A homeowner in Windlesham had an old driveway that had become uneven and tired, with loose surfacing and puddles forming after every downpour. They wanted a clean, modern finish that would lift the look of the front of the house, cope well with rainfall, and give a smooth, comfortable surface to drive and walk on. A resin bound driveway was the ideal choice, with brick edging to frame it and sandstone steps to tie in the change in level.

What We Did

Our work included:

• Removed the old driveway: Lifted and cleared the existing surface and dug out to the correct depth, ready for a properly built base.
• Built a compacted, well drained base: Installed and compacted a sound sub base with the correct falls, so surface water runs away cleanly and the finished driveway stays firm underfoot and under wheel.
• Set the brick edging: Laid a neat brick edge around the driveway to give it a crisp, defined border and hold the resin surface firmly in place.
• Formed the sandstone steps: Built sandstone steps to handle the change in level between the driveway and the entrance, matching the overall look of the property.
• Laid the resin bound surface: Hand trowelled a resin bound aggregate over the prepared base for a smooth, permeable finish that lets rainwater soak straight through rather than pooling on top.
• Finished the borders: Tidied and planted the surrounding borders to frame the new driveway and complete the look.

The Result

A smart, permeable resin bound driveway that has transformed the front of the home. The surface is smooth and even, the brick edging and sandstone steps give it a quality finish, and the properly built base means water drains away instead of sitting in puddles. It is a hard wearing, low maintenance driveway the owner can be proud of for years to come.
